Privacy Policy
Last updated April 28, 2026
FBS Alumni ("we," "our," "us") operates the alumni community at fbsalumni.org. This policy explains what information we collect from members of the community, how we use it, and the choices you have. FBS Alumni is a separate organization from Forest Bluff School.
Information we collect
- Account information you provide when you register: your name, email address, role (alumni or alumni parent), and the password or sign-in method you choose. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google.
- Profile information you choose to add: bio, class year or decade, schools attended (high school, college, graduate school), awards, personal details, links to your own social media, and an optional profile photo.
- Content you post: community posts, memories, replies, reactions, and any images you upload. Direct messages you send to other members.
- Moderation data: reports you file about other members' content, and any actions we take in response.
- Technical data: when you sign in, we record the IP address and browser user-agent associated with the session, plus standard server logs from our hosting provider.
We do not run analytics or advertising trackers on the site.
How we use it
- To operate the community: show your profile and posts to other members, deliver direct messages, and let members find each other in the directory.
- To send service emails — magic-link sign-ins, account approval and notification emails — through a third-party email provider acting on our behalf.
- To approve new members. Registration is manually reviewed against our membership criteria (graduates of Forest Bluff who attended for more than two years, or alumni parents, age 18 or older).
- To moderate the community, investigate reports, and enforce our Terms.
- To keep the site secure — for example, rate-limiting abuse and reviewing session metadata when investigating suspicious activity.
Who can see your information
Your profile and the posts, memories, replies, and reactions you make are visible to other approved members of the FBS Alumni community. They are not public on the open internet.
Direct messages are visible to the participants in the conversation and to FBS Alumni administrators when responding to a report or a legal request. Treat direct messages as private between members, but not as end-to-end encrypted.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of vendors to run the site — a hosting and infrastructure provider, an email delivery provider, and Google for optional sign-in. They process information only as needed to provide their service to us, under their own privacy commitments. We add new categories of providers only when needed and update this policy accordingly.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information and profile while your account is active. Posts, replies, and messages are kept until you or an administrator deletes them, or until the account is closed. We may retain limited records (for example, of moderation actions or legal requests) longer when we have a legitimate reason to do so.
Your choices
- You can edit or remove most of your profile information at any time from your profile page.
- You can delete your own posts, memories, and replies.
- You can request that we close your account or delete information we hold about you by emailing alumni@forestbluffschool.org. Some content you posted in shared spaces (for example, replies on another member's thread) may remain visible after your account is closed unless you ask us to remove it specifically.
- If you signed in with Google, you can revoke that connection from your Google account settings.
Cookies and sessions
We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences across pages. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
Children
The FBS Alumni community is for members who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. Younger alumni are welcome to join us when they reach 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, post a notice in the community.
