Terms of Service

Last updated April 28, 2026

These Terms govern your use of the FBS Alumni community at fbsalumni.org. The community is operated by FBS Alumni, an organization separate from Forest Bluff School. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

Who can join

Membership is open to people who:

  • Attended Forest Bluff School for more than two years, or are an alumni parent;
  • Have a positive relationship with the school; and
  • Are at least 18 years old.

Registrations are reviewed and approved manually. We may decline or revoke membership at our discretion.

Your account

  • Provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Notify us at alumni@forestbluffschool.org if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • One person, one account. Don't share an account or impersonate another member.

Acceptable use

This is a community space. While using FBS Alumni, you agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, demean, or discriminate against other members;
  • Post content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, sexually explicit, or invasive of someone else's privacy;
  • Share another member's personal information without their consent;
  • Use the site for spam, advertising, solicitation, or commercial promotion not approved by us;
  • Attempt to access accounts, data, or parts of the system that are not yours;
  • Interfere with the operation of the site, including by automated scraping, probing for vulnerabilities, or overloading our infrastructure;
  • Use the site to violate any applicable law.

Your content

You keep ownership of the posts, memories, replies, photos, and messages you contribute ("Your Content"). You give FBS Alumni a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute Your Content within the community for the purpose of operating the site. This license ends for new uses when you delete the content or close your account, except for copies retained as required by law or normal backup processes.

You represent that you have the right to post Your Content and that it does not violate these Terms.

Moderation

We may review, edit, hide, or remove content, and we may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we judge in good faith to be harmful to the community. Members can report content using the in-app report feature. We aim to act reasonably and consistently, but we do not guarantee a particular outcome on any individual report.

Direct messages

Direct messages between members are private to the participants. They are not end-to-end encrypted: FBS Alumni administrators may access messages when responding to a report, investigating abuse, or complying with a legal request. Use good judgment about what you share.

Termination

You can close your account at any time by emailing alumni@forestbluffschool.org. We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms or to protect the community. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, license, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will continue to apply.

Disclaimers

The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do our best to keep it running well, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content posted by other members is accurate. Content posted by members reflects the views of those members and not of FBS Alumni or Forest Bluff School.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FBS Alumni and its volunteers, officers, and contractors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The exclusive venue for any dispute that is not resolved informally is the state and federal courts located in Lake County, Illinois, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, post a notice in the community. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
